This is a repost of an article that illustrates the despicable lows to which delusional Rhode Island progressives are willing to stoop in their attempts to bully and intimidate those who disagree with them. In this case, Democrat RI Representative David A. Coughlin of District 60 in Pawtucket was the target, because he (a lawyer and officer of the court obligated to uphold the rule of law) had the "audacity" to co-sponsor a bill that proposes to stop "sanctuary" status in municipalities, and prevent enactment of local ordinances that would prohibit local police from cooperating with federal immigration officials.
The merits of the bill itself are not being argued pro or con here. Still, it is incomprehensible to me why progressives think the rule of law is relative, applied by whim, and certainly inapplicable to them or their pet causes. In general, this entire issue is not anti immigrant, but anti law breaker and pro law enforcement. What is it about illegal these progressives refuse to understand?
For the record, Rep. Coughlin's former in-laws were immigrants from Portugal, and he had no issues whatsoever with them. But then again, they had come to America the right way, as have millions of immigrants before them and since. I guess that doesn't count, though, in the progressives' world where legal immigrants and illegal invaders are all the same thing.
I post the story here under fair use (as if anything they did was fair or useful) to report and instruct others, without giving the progressive website the benefit of any additional hits and views. It's more important to expose the tactics of intimidation being used under the guise of constitutionally-protected right to bring grievances against government. Except taking a mob to someone's home on a Saturday morning, complete with bullhorns, violates the neighbors' right to peace, and attempts to intimidate an individual instead of taking grievances to the public forum of legislative hearings where they rightly belong.

Pawtucket’s Rep Coughlin a no-show as pro-immigrant residents protest outside his home

Pawtucket City Councillors Sandra Cano and Meghan Kallman helped to lead the march, along with Fuerza Laboral’s executive director Heiny Maldonado and organizer Raul Figueroa. The group, escorted by the Pawtucket Police Department for the safety of the marchers, arrived at Coughlin’s residence shortly before 9am and tried to get him to come out and address the crowd. Coughlin did not come to the door or answer his phone. A car with Coughlin’s House license plate 60, wrapped in a “Choose Life” frame, was parked in the driveway.
The crowd stood outside Coughlin’s residence for about ten minutes. Heiny Maldonado rang his doorbell and knocked, but did not get an answer. As the crowd departed, they left a small pile of messages, in the form of protest signs, on the front steps of Coughlin’s house. This is believed to be the first protest of a state legislator’s home in at least three years, and the success of the action points the way towards more such protests in the future.
On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee will take up H5093 as well as Representative Shelby Maldonado’s Trust Act, H5515, which would forbid local law enforcement from acting on ICE directives. The Committee meeting will start at the Rise of the House (4:30pm or so) in Room 205 in the Rhode Island State House. Also being heard Wednesday is the racist anti-immigrant bill H5394, which would require court sheriffs to inquire about the immigration status of people appearing in court, notify ICE, and assist is deportation proceedings.
